PEAT Peat is an unconsolidated sediment of partially decayed vegetation. Peat generally accumulates in bogs and other wetlands where a lack of oxygen results in reducing conditions, preserving the organic matter. The typical acid conditions of decaying vegetation helps to preserve the organic material as well, sometimes even preserving animal carcasses. |
